Afternoon update: Postop day 2
Good afternoon everybody, I'm pleased to report that Mike has had a day full of positives. He walked 44ft this morning, 100ft just after lunch and then another 100 just now. His coughing is greatly improving, as is his color. He is still not quite feeling up to providing words of wisdom, but I think I can speak for him when I say, walking in the halls is much more fun when wearing a cape. Well, I take that back, he just gave some wisdom "they tried to sell us Egg Foo Young"(apparently Harry may understand what this means). Well, his first real food is about to arrive so I will leave you with those words.

Geez, Nolan, by now I was training for a marathon. Stop being a wussy. And by the way, if your bare crack shows in back, it's not a cape.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, Sal sends her love and Ashley, too. She wondered if she should come up and visit, but I told her not yet. Our best to Kathy and the kids, too: looks like they'll have to put up with you a while longer. George
Mike; Glad to read that you are doing well. Best wishes to you and the family. Rememeber: no talking politics with the docs. You must keep that blood pressure low. Laura sends "Hugs".
ReplyDeleteMike, I am glad that you are doing well and recovering. Of course I had no doubt that you would do well. While living with us in Detroit as a young man (yes for all of you guys out there, Mike was young once),it was I that taught you toughness and bravery. We Irish (I'm Irish/Italian)are a brave and tough lot. I am also glad that you are now able to speak again. As you know, I worship you and wait for any "pearl of wisdom" (however mundane) that leaks from your lips. I must correct you on one thing however, the saying is; "they tried to sell us egg fool young". While you may have the fool part quite well you are way off on the young part. Oh well, I'm sure that once you are fully recovered, you will be able to correct this rather embarassing but extremely rare Faux Pas.

ReplyDeleteIrish Mike asking for the 2nd Opinion.
ReplyDeleteAn elderly businessman buys a large house. The house is situated on a cliff overlooking the sea. One evening, the old gentleman is out for his usual walk before going to bed. The evening is a very blustery one. He ventures a little too close to the cliff's edge, loses his footing and falls over the brink.
Fortunately, he is able to grasp a very slender sapling that is growing out of the cliff, which stops his fall. The old gentleman hangs there for a few moments, terribly shaken. Eventually he calls out, "Is there anybody there?"
At once a great voice seem to fill the whole of the firmament. It comes out of the clouds, out of the sea and out of the cliff itself. It says in measured tones, "There is always someone up here, my son. All that you need to do is release your hold upon that small tree and you will descend safely to the shore below."
The old gentleman considers this for a moment and takes a look down at the jagged rocks 200ft below him. Then he looks up again and says, "Is there anybody else up there?" We love ya, and are elated at the progress, keep it up and look forward to having you home soon, as all the people at the hosptial are all ready looking forward to that day. RonC
Cut down on the drugs, the Egg Foo Yung comment signals bizarre flights of fancy. Mike, your 40 feet, 100 feet "workouts" would not please Bruce Waha. When are you going to incorporate Fahrtlek to your exercize regimen? Everything sounds great, but please, no words of wisdom yet. Barb and I are eagerly following Patrick's blogolicious updates. Do you need any classical lierature to read? How about The Aenead? No? Well then ,some excerpts from The Collected Prose and Poetry of Pelosi? Now that will tune you up. DKT
