POST OP DAY 4

We have good news. Mike will be discharged from the hospital in the morning...Saturday. We will be staying with Patrick and Heather for a few days and if all is stable will plan on heading north on Tuesday. Timothy will be here for the weekend so we can relax, play Wii and watch the snow strom that southern Michigan is supposed to get starting tomorrow. Mikes sister Bonnie is leaving a day early because of the snow predicted...she does not want to get stuck in Chicago and sleep on the floor tomorrow! She has been a fantastic amount of help and we are very grateful that she took the time to come and be with us in this very difficult time. Mike is starting to feel more normal, walking in the hallway and telling everyone he wants to go home. We will keep you updated ...thanks to all for your comments and support. Kathy

    Congratulations, Mike. You must be doing great. Don't be surprised if you have to rest climbing a single flight of stairs, this first couple of days. And whatever you do, don't try to wean off pain meds early...it just slows down your recovery and interferes with your breathing. George

    Atta Boy, you can't keep a good irish man down for long. You either are one supper healer or you have worn out your welcome their, but at any rate we are glad your getting out. TAke your time and do as they instruct you....and listen to Kathy(for once). RonC

    Another sounds great Mike!! Take it easy and listen to Kathy. She knows more about recovery than you do. On my god, somebody knows more than you!! Bombs away.

    we're watching it snow out here at the cabin - set some new trails with the dogs this afternoon - geoff says he is glad they are "throwing you out" tomorrow - he is playing wii golf with tiger woods - thank you for introducing us to this form of entertainment - glad you have family with you both...

    Great to hear that you are getting out. Never a good idea to stay in hospital longer than you have to. I think Wii golf will put a bit of a stretch on the sternum so hold back some on the swing and put my money on Timothy and Patrick. Do they have a trout fishing Wii game? I think there is a market. This blog is a great idea now that I finally figured out how to use it.
