post op day 3 afternoon
We are very pleased to report that the chest tubes are removed and also the pacer wires. Mike is feeling less pain and it is easier to move around so that is wonderful. Lunch was slightly better than breakfast but nothing tastes very good. Mike continues to be motivated with his IS breathing machine and coughing as well as walking. ....twice so far today. The big news is that he asked for his phone so watch out...who knows what he will be up to now. We will post again later with an end of the day update. Thanks for all your messages...we continue to read them to him and we even got a few laughs!! Kathy

Mike's about as dangerous with a cell phone as I am - neither of us like to use 'em, but could be a sign that Mike is already boored.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work.
geoff
We are still looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. I am glad that everything is going well down there. We will call on YOUR cell phone in case Mike is 'hogging' the other phone. We will check in some time after my appointment which is at 8:30 in the morning.
ReplyDeleteOh yea he's feeling better.
ReplyDeleteKathy: What a soldier; what a patient! The cell phone threat; probably for Red Robin whiskey! Mike, you're on the mend & soon you'll have more U of M Hosp Dr customers than ever! Keep doing as they say....to a point. Cheers
ReplyDeleteSo, Mike, I just figured it out. You scheduled the surgery for this week because Stewart and Colbert are repeats? Better get it together before Monday. Glad to hear you are doing well. We're all thinking of you, all day long. George
ReplyDeleteJust the other night I was out to dinner with my parents and we were sharing "Mike Nolan Golf Cart Stories." We were all laughing so hard it hurt!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you are doing better. Hope you get out of that terrible town soon!

Its hospital food. Put a greasy cheeseburger, a glass of red wine and a bowl of Hagen Daz in front of him and watch his appetite return.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless, Michael.

You are in trouble now if mike has the cell phone! I have seen the following i believe demonstrated out at Mike's camp
ReplyDeleteThree men walk into a bar: a Frenchman, an Italian and an Irishman(we will call him Mike). Each orders one beer. Three flys fly into the bar and one fly lands in each man's beer.
The Italian man plucks the fly out of his beer, says "tutto e bene" (all is well)" and drinks the beer.
The Frenchman shows his beer with the bug still inside it to the bartender and demands another beer.
Then Irishman(Mike) yanks the bug out of the beer, grabs it by it's wings, shakes it while yelling
"Cough it up, you wee theivin' bastard!"
Keep up the good work, we love ya Mike and look forward to having you home. Ron C
Good morning, Mike, Kathy, Patrick and everyone. Hope you are gaining stamina today, Mike. We're looking forward to seeing you back up here on your feet. You might want to wait a few more days for the weather to warm up, however. All our love, George and Sal
